Hi,
I’m Vicki-Marie…
A Journalist, Editor, Level 3 qualified personal trainer, Mum to twin girls Evie & Fleur, and dog mum to Loki.
For years I wanted to become an RAF pilot, but the universe had other plans and sent me in a very different direction. Thankfully, I fell into journalism and I’ve never looked back.
25+ years of asking questions
I started my career at Hairflair magazine, writing about hair and beauty, where I discovered my love of skincare and the joy of compiling a product round up. From there, I joined Metro as an Editorial Assistant and, over 16 years, worked my way up to become its Health, Fitness and Beauty Editor. I later went freelance, working as Contributing Editor for Metro, before returning as its Freelance Wellbeing Editor and creating a four-page weekly Wellbeing supplement for them. Alongside Metro, I’ve written for publications including Live Science and Fit&Well.
One of the best things about journalism is never knowing where a story will take you. I’ve interviewed heaps of celebrities including Dita Von Teese, Tess Daly, Davina McCall and Vicky Pattison, as well as fitness experts including Joe Wicks, Krissy Cela and Courtney Black, plus university professors, Buddhist monks and health pioneers. The names might make the headlines, but it’s the stories behind them that I’m interested in. I love asking questions, digging deep and finding out the information that makes a story genuinely worth reading.
Why The Wellness Editor?
After more than 25 years writing across my topics, I’ve watched the world of wellness explode. One week it’s collagen powders and cold plunges, the next it’s movement snacks and breathwork. Wellbeing can now feel a little confusing and exhausting, and it can often leave us wondering if we’re still missing something. As a mum of twins navigating midlife, I know how easy it is to feel overwhelmed by the endless list of things we’re apparently supposed to be doing, buying and tracking.
I wanted to create somewhere you can come for honest answers, fresh ideas and plenty of inspiration, without adding another 20 things to your To-Do list.
Because looking after yourself shouldn’t feel like another job.
